about

When jazz first appeared in the early teens of the 20th century, countless European and American composers embraced it whole heartedly and began incorporating its idioms in to their own compositions. This love affair lasted well in to the 1940's.

Three of the works on this recording are from that golden period - all written within four years of each other. The last piece was written by Phil Dwyer to fill out the program of jazz inspired works we first performed in Winnipeg in 1999.

Performers:

Andrew Burashko - piano
Phil Dwyer - sax
Mark Fewer - violin

Recorded at Glenn Gould Studio, January 10th & 11th, 2000
Produced by Jonathan Goldsmith
Engineered by Doug Doctor
Painting by Martin Tielli
